Freshjive x Etnies Plus

freshjive etnies junior plus 1 Freshjive x Etnies Junior Plus

Well Rick Klotz seems to be busy with a lot of interviews as of late. The many millions of The Hundreds blog readers already heard Klotz's concept for the future of Freshjive, an absolute removal of branding this upcoming Spring and beyond. From the t-shirts, to the garment labels, right on down to the website, there will be absolutely no signs of the name of the brand or any of its logos. Well these Etnies Plus x Freshjive colab shoes are being released soon, so Sneaker Freaker took to a quick interview with Klotz as well, as it reveals his distaste for collaborations in general and his idea of what a shoe should be and SHOULDN'T BE.

Gourmet For Next Spring/Summer

gourmet 2010 spring summer footwear preview 1 Gourmet 2010 Spring/Summer Footwear PreviewI found these new Gourmet's pretty rad. "Pretty rad" as in, yeah, I sound like a tool but that's the first thing that came to mind and I seem to be lacking an "Urban Thesaurus", if you will. But honestly, I've seen Gourmet play its hand in the sneaker game and mature into what it is today. It kind of reminds me of 3sixteen and a variety of other brands aswell and how these streetculture labels are maturing into an incredibly classic yet contemporary aesthetic. I still have my Gourmet's from their first release of Jordan interpretations. My 7-look-alikes in their bright "robin egg" colourway. I guess streetwear has come a long way.

Staple x Airwalk Hits Payless

Mr. Jeff Staple brings back our old time favourites all the way back to when Airwalk ran the skate scene... back to the eighties and early nineties. Apparently all of them are going to be under $50. I really hope they do arrive at the Payless stores here in Canada. I'm not one to hate on these, and I by no means think this is a sell out. What I do think it is, is a great oppurtunity to reclaim our old-time favourite skate footwear and at the same time provide an interesting and solid product to people who cannot otherwise afford such special products the streetwear community provides.

Rachel Comey for Next Spring

rachel comey 2010 spring 1 Rachel Comey 2010 Spring Collection

I have way too many sneakers. Definitely not as much as the average "sneaker head." But way more than I really need. But what I do seem to have a lack of is nice classic footwear. My only solid classic footwear are a pair of Redwing Beckman's. I throw in my old Lacoste Carnaby's for that vintage tennis shoe silhouette and these pair of Sperry dock shoes when needed. But my Sperry's have those non-marking vibram soles that I'm not a huge fan of. Anyways, Rachel Comey seems to have a ton of pieces in the upcoming Spring 2010 collection that I can definitely take to heart.

Vans Vault Akat's

I happened to find these new Vans Valut "Akat's" somewhat interesting. I think for a reasonable $130... you can't go wrong. I feel that they are some what predictable, in the way that this native/aboriginal vibe seems to be a micro-trend in the indie community. But just as much as this shallow trendiness might take away from this shoe, it also takes on the feel of an instant classic. At the same time however, it's something rather unpredictable as well, as I would never imagine Vans taking such a brave dive. I can imagine people hating these. But I love them.

Gravis Indo Expedition Pack

Know for their designs revolving around active lifestyles, the Gravis “Indo” Expedition pack is the latest from the brand as they pair concepts of retro outdoor footwear on a runner’s last. Despite the number of colors making an appearance on this shoe, they all work together quite well providing a pleasing colorway with other nice touches including colored 3M, speckled soles and the proprietary Cloud9 cushioning system. To round out the collection are some matching bags. While the use of gray on the footwear balanced out the overall colorway, the bags are a bit flashier combining the brightest elements seen on the shoes.
