An Encounter With Commercialism

As a streetwear enthusiast, I don't specifically condone visiting shopping malls, as they are filled with the money hungry franchises owned by corporate vultures. That being said, I do sometimes visit them for the small number of streetwear pieces that can be found hidden and tucked away in a variety of stores.

Anyways, today was one of those days. On a normal day, I would have to wait at this boring bus stop, standing on the same old spot, looking at the same old view behind me, to wait for the 10N Bus that always seems to be 10 minutes late.

(The lovely view behind me)

But today, I stopped at Erin Mills. I heard that Athlete's World was having a clearance sale, which included some Lemar & Dauley tees. So on my way home today, I decided to go on a quest to find a Lemar & Dauley t-shirt for myself. So I went to Erin Mills, yet I couldn't even find Athlete's World on the directory.

I obviously looked at more of the directory, but still no luck. After a little walking around I found the spot. To my happy surprise I found a number of streetwear pieces at this Athlete's World, including a PFK sweater, some Undrcrwn tees going for $10, and some Greedy Genius tees going for $15.

I didn't however find any Lemar & Dauley tees, only some hoodies. So I moved onto Lids, which is the only other place I take interest in. (Except for West 49's skateboard stuff, although i do prefer to support independent skateshops) I ask the dude there if I could take some pictures of the hats I'm interested in. He says that the store doesn't allow pictures, but he said it in the nicest way possible. He was a cool dude though, an Asian dude rocking Bapesta's which I actually think were real. Anyways, I walked around some more and stumbled upon a new surprise.

I guess some franchises are okay, because this Purdy's store looks tastier than Scoops. But, that was all for today. It was time to leave the dreadful confines of a shopping mall.

As I waited for my bus, I saw the what was becoming of the dying breed of commercialism.

So I bussed it home after that.

When I finally reached home, I found that I had left my keys in my room. So I had to go get the "under the doormat key" if you know what I mean, although the key is hidden in a much less obvious spot, and also a much filthier and gunkier spot. But I did manage to get in, and baked myself some Delissio to comfort myself.

I didn't manage to finish the whole thing. I guess those leftovers will be part of my dinner.
